Performing joy offers healing from our addictive engagement with domination systems. We are not required to fight for our reality; we can just live it. We can be weird and whole and as shapeshifting as necessary, for we are being called to another purpose. We are being invited to awaken to our true nature as spirit beings, energy sharers, and prophets of potential.~ Dr Barbara A. Holmes.
My practice centres on adults affected by adverse or complex life circumstances. The visceral experience of cumulative hardships [abandonment, disrupted/ neglectful attunement, intrusion, violation, narcissism, intergenerational trauma/ oppression, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence etc] significantly interrupts the neurobiological capacity for resilience, adapting to adversity and creatively bouncing back.
I support those whose embodied sense of self is deeply wounded, fracturing how they perceive themselves, significant relationships and their place in the world.
Talk therapy, such as CBT or a top-down Psychological approach, privileges memory, behavioural strategies, and meaning-making. These frameworks fragment our unmet longing for relational safety and attunement.
I focus on experientially led emergent-creative modalities integrating our body, brain, emotions, spirit and capacities by
~ attending to felt sensations, restlessness, fatigue, burnout, grief, overwhelm, anxiety, tension and isolation.
~ resourcing and emotionally tending to the impact of traumatic stress, imprinted as rumination, shame, guilt, and self-sabotage in the mind, body and spirit.
~listening deeply and sensitively responding to emotional distress, panic, pain, hypervigilance, emotional safety, unease and isolation towards ease and connection.
